Feed the Beast, also known as FTB, originated as a custom challenge map in Minecraft that made heavy use of multiple tech mods. It played very similar to a type of map known as Sky Block, where the player is started in a void world with only a small platform, and must overcome a series of challenges.
The mod pack used for the map then became very popular and soon evolved into many other packs including lite, ultimate and tech world.
One day a few of the Badlanders who played Tekkit brought the mod pack to the Owners attention, and they began construction of the Tekkit project. The Badlanders that brought the idea to the Owners attention were later introduced to FTB and the project changed to the FTB project.
The project died for a while, then when Cordestian came back from his unfortunate span of inactivity, he decided to collaborate with knight2109, and within a week the FTBadlands project was live and in beta.
The MCBadlands FTB server currently uses the FTB Ultimate Pack v1.1.2 in Minecraft version 1.4.7. Formerly, a whitelist was used to prevent a lot of people joining and creating massive lag or a crash, due to the fact that it ran on a small portion of the main MC Badlands server hardware until the Beta period ended. After the Beta ended, the FTB server was moved to its own, though less powerful, server box seperate from the main server. The whitelist was abandoned, though players still need to sign up on the forums and be promoted like on the main server.

MCB-02: The sister ship to the MCB-01 on the Neo Badlands server was carried over to the FTB server because of amount of things you're able to do in FTB which gives it a richer, more fun role-playing experience. Due to Docithe's recent extended absence, the roleplay has essentially been abandoned.
